Do Customer Reviews Matter?

Have you recently been asked to leave a review for a small business, ecommerce, or restaurant? Leaving a review takes less than 2 minutes but we often hesitate to provide feedback. Why? Do customer reviews really matter? Yes, in fact leaving a review is more powerful than you might think. Your review along with others helps influence the next

customer if they will visit that establishment or not. But it’s not just potential customers who take notice, Google does too! Reviews play a big role in where your business shows up in search results, and as a business owner, you know how important it is to be seen. Our goal is to help your business land on the first page organically, meaning without having to pay for Google ads. Now, don’t get us wrong, paid ads can be a great way to get quick results and should be considered as part of a short-term strategy. However, organic rankings build long term credibility and trust with people and search engines. Many people even admit that seeing “sponsored” next to a result makes them less likely to click. Let’s dive into why leaving a review is such a game-changer for your business!

Appliance Down, Need Help!

Recently, our refrigerator started having cooling issues. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t resolve the issue on my own. I didn’t know an appliance technician offhand, my first instinct was to search online for one nearby. After looking through several companies and not having any personal connections with any of them, I decided to go with the one that had the most reviews and the highest customer ratings. Sure enough, the experience we had matched the positive feedback others had shared. In the end, those reviews played a big role in my decision.

Choosing a Company Based on Customer Reviews

The company I chose showed up on the first page simply because of the many positive reviews and customer interactions on their website. Keep in mind, Google’s goal is to keep you using their search engine instead of competitors like YouTube, DuckDuckGo, or Bing. To do that, they prioritize showing the best possible results, which is why businesses with strong reviews and engagement tend to rank higher and coincides with SEO!

Leaving a Review Matters

Your business can benefit the same way the one I chose did. If you’re not already asking your customers for reviews, now is the time to start. Encourage as many people as possible to leave feedback on Google, social media, or your website. Ideally, choose a platform where you can respond, like Google or social media, so you can engage with customers and address any concerns. If a mishap happens and is brought out publicly you can respond publicly giving you a chance to resolve the issue and show potential customers how you handle situations. Often, it’s just a simple misunderstanding!

Final Thoughts...

I’m sure there were plenty of other companies just as qualified to fix my refrigerator, but honestly, I didn’t want to spend hours researching. Instead, I let Google’s algorithm do the heavy lifting. Thanks to strong SEO and the power of public reviews, this company stood out as a top choice saving me (and many others) time and effort in the decision-making process.
